So here we are sitting at LAX waiting for our flight. Got to love airport food, just had the most expensive sandwich and french fries that we will probably have our entire trip. So romantic. The magnitude of our trip is still surreal and has not set in yet and probably won’t till we land. So here is the plan for the flight: taking a sleeping pill, watching a movie and sleeping the rest of the way to Paris. We’ve been glued to our cells since we’ve been at the airport. Not using them for 3 weeks is going to be a huge adjustment. I even had to go get a battery changed in a watch I haven’t worn in almost 10 years just so I would know what time it is. It’s funny how we grow so dependent on modern technology. JT made sure to tell me that we need to make sure to stay together so we don’t get let. I told him I would just get him one of those back pack leashes you see parents walking their kids on.
Things I’m looking forward to: All the sightseeing and tours we have planned. We have a nice balance of planned activities and free time. In our free time I’m looking forward to being able to absorb some of the culture Paris and Italy have to offer. The history, architecture, food, wine and art along will be fun for us to explore. The gelato in the cafĂ©’s, the pastries and bread in the bakeries, the souvenir shopping and clothes shopping I have not told JT about.
Things I’m going to miss: of course we will miss McGavin, Akira and Clyde. We’ve even brought pictures of the cats with us to put up in our rooms. I’ll probably end up missing people that speak English fluently but I look at this as our own little amazing race leaving us to our instincts. As long as we aren’t going off of JT’s directional instinct I think we will be ok.
